Don't Forget To Breathe!
- Work In Progress -
Don't Forget to Breathe! is a two-person, outdoor, non-verbal contemporary circus performance that explores the relationship between breathing, awareness, and connection. The title refers, on one hand, to our most basic, instinctive life function, and on the other, serves as a gentle reminder: pause for a moment, turn your attention inward, give yourself time—but also look around and try to connect with the people surrounding you.
In a world dominated by constant performance pressure and the endless flood of information, conscious breathing becomes the simplest yet most powerful tool —kind of a free superpower— with which we can restore our inner balance. The performance examines this duality of breathing: how it can be both a physical necessity and a mental instrument.
The piece begins from our own physical experience. In partner acrobatics, shared inhalation initiates movement, creates trust, and synchronizes rhythm. And yet, under strain or concentration, we often hold our breath—as if we could hold on to tension and fear themselves. In those moments, we quite literally forget to breathe. Through movement, the performance brings this invisible process to the surface, exploring how the rhythm of breath shapes our connection to our bodies, to each other, and to the audience.
Accessible to all ages and designed as a 360-degree experience, the piece invites audiences at outdoor festivals and public spaces to engage beyond spectacle—to experience, together, the act of breathing as an anchor to the present.
Don't Forget to Breathe! is at once physical theatre, circus, and communal ritual: a celebration of the air that moves through all of us, reminding us that, no matter what happens, in the end, we all share the same breath
