InThisTogether
participative circus experiment, premier May 2024
Can you trust eleven strangers with your life?
InThisTogether begins with this question hidden beneath the surface, gradually revealing itself through a series of encounters where spectators are invited to step beyond observation. Each choice made by the audience is woven into the fabric of the performance, turning circus into a collective exploration of trust, risk and responsibility. Eleven volunteers leave their seats to join the performers on stage, committing themselves to the full hour ahead. Their path is unpredictable yet carefully designed: every instruction precise, every interaction crafted to heighten or challenge both responsibility and connection. From the moment the music begins, the audience is drawn into a shifting world of acrobatics, aerials and the participants’ choices.
What begins in clarity and simplicity gradually evolves into something more profound. Instructions give way to intuition and the line between performance and reality blurs into a shared experience that is at once daring, fragile, and deeply human. In the end, InThisTogether is as much a circus performance as an experiment in how we look at ourselves and those around us.
The project has been selected by the regional comitee of Circus Next in 2023. Supported by Staféta Program, SÍN Arts Centre, National Cultural Fund, Inspirál Circus Center and received the EFFEA Grant by the European Festival Association. The production has been created with the support of the Staféta Program funded by the Capital Municipality of Budapest.
